Bussey Shares Story of Canadian WWI Conscientious Objector
Barry Bussey, editor of Should I Fight?, recently published an article on WWI conscientious objectors in the Messenger— “No More of This Kind to a Respectable Jail” (Nov 2018, pp 24-27).
The article compares two letters—one by Adventist James Wagner and one by the Deputy Minister of the Department of Justice regarding Wagner when he was being held in a “respectable jail.” It’s a moving story of conviction and faithfulness to conscience. Wagner experienced solitary confinement and was even tarred before eventually released.
