In this episode Jeff Boyd interviews Daniel Xisto, pastor of the Charlottesville Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is also co-president of IMPACT, an interfaith movement whose mission is to empower the faith community of greater Charlottesville, Virginia, to create significant social change through unified direct action.

On the weekend of August 11-12, 2017, Charlottesville was the site of racial demonstrations, hate speech, violence, and domestic terrorism. By the end of the weekend there were three fatalities and numerous additional people injured. On August 12 Heather Heyer was murdered by an individual who drove his car into a crowd of counter-demonstrators who were standing up for human dignity and a just society. That same night, Virginia State Police Lieutenant Jay Cullen and Trooper-Pilot Berke Bates died when their helicopter crashed. Among those injured over the weekend, DeAndre Harris stands out as one person to note because of the severity of his attack by white supremacists. This podcast conversation between Pastor Xisto and Jeff takes place within this social context.
